Addendum: Yesterday evening, SWOH hiked in the dark for a bit, wearing headlamps, because the heat had finally let up a bit. Within a few yards, they encountered both a tarantula and a scorpion. The latter stuck around long enough to make a quick video, while the former quickly disappeared. This encounter motivated SWOH's decision NOT to cowboy camp. ;-) Today’s encounter can be seen in the second video: SWOH's first meeting with a rattlesnake. Sabine considers this a very special experience. (Your intrepid translator, however, is shaking in her silk slippers ... Germany has only 6 different types of snakes - and only 2 of those are poisonous.)
