Yesterday, August 17th, I flew to Iceland, together with Sabine, who could decide at short notice to accompany me on the Icelandic crossing from north to south (except for the last part, which we already walked together in 2012).
And we were lucky, because the government of Iceland had decided yesterday that Germany will also be one of the corona risk countries as of August 19 and that visitors from Germany will have to undergo a corona test on their arrival in Iceland. Afterwards 5 days quarantine, then a second test. We will probably be one of the last tourists who will visit Iceland this year ...
Less luck had my brother Juri with whom I planned to walk the last stretch, the well-known Trail Laugavegur, together. He would have arrived from the Netherlands after August 19th and now he has to cancel his flight. What a pity, we had planned this for years!
