The table below illustrates some PCT statistics. Since there's an upper limit on the number of permits issued, presumably the 2019 stats will be fairly similar to those of 2018. Due to the fact
that this was a high-snow year, however, the number of hikers is expected to be somewhat lower. Thus, about 5000 permits were issued to long-distance hiker (section hikers not included).
Because not all those hikers who finished will have registered in the PCTA list, I assume that a maximum of 800 finished the PCT in 2019. That means this year every 6th or 7th hiker successfully
hiked the entire 4,279 kilometers. And now Sabine is one of them!
