With every week that passes, the trail becomes a part of our memory, and thus we sometimes spontaneously remember beautiful moments. For example: On the evening of July 22, on the way to get water at Panther Creek in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, we met Spencer (11) and Logan (10) from Vancouver, who were spending their vacation with their parents at the nearby Panther Creek Campground.
While we refilled our water supplies at the creek, the two boys were busily constructing bridges with large rocks, like the crossings we constantly use when there's no bridge (although there was one here). They wanted to know what we're doing and what the PCT is, whether they were playing too near us or were bothering us. Of course not! They asked if we needed water and offered to bring us some from the campground. We explained that we use the creek water, which we filter, and showed them our filters. We were impressed with these kids’ good manners!
They themselves had hiked 2 miles on the PCT, declaring it very strenuous.
