Hitchhiking proved felicitous: Mark, from Los Angeles, who'd spent the weekend in Idyllwild, took us to Humber Park parking lot. It was pleasant, after a restful day in Idyllwild, to hike the 6 km back to the PCT. A steep incline in just under 90 minutes! Giving our bones a rest was really worthwhile. The new purchases also paid off: Sabine has a new lightweight backpack and Olli the new ultra-light-weight tent. Our first night in the new tent was next to a snowfield, featuring spectacular views (see pics). The tent is cooler, but very spacious. We’re very pleased. The important thing is to set up the tent in such a way as to prevent wind from entering from underneath.
