126) Olli: Update November 7

Been back home in Germany for 2 weeks and trying to get used to day-to-day life here – logistically, structurally, and emotionally. Not easy, especially when my wife, Sabine, is still on the trail.

It was very strange returning home after such a long time away, especially because we'd sublet our apartment till the end of October. I'd somehow expected it to be different, although of course everything had been planned this way from the beginning. Stayed at my daughter's place in Stuttgart for a couple of days (funny; this is the first time it's this way around), and then spent three days in Hinterzarten, where my dad was coincidentally spending his fall holidays. For the remaining  days until I was able to move back into our apartment, I camped at Carlos and Tanja’s in Marbach It's great to have such good friends! (Carlos and Tanja had sent us a package to Kennedy Meadows North).

And so daily life goes on. Meanwhile I've moved back into our apartment, settling in – myself and the furniture – as needed. One of my tasks is securing the film material: to date, excluding what Sabine is filming alone, we have roughly 500 hours of film material. To process, convert and back up these gigantic amounts of data into the correct format, we need a 64TB-Raidsystem! Cost: about 5,000 €. Hm, looks like we need a donkey that sh--s gold ;-)

All this is needed by December, when Sabine's back, to view the material, to further develop our concept, apply for funding, and seek sponsors.

P.S. A note from your friendly (and very exhausted!) translator: And by the way, there's a premiere to keep in mind: On March 14, in the Geislingen Library, the film will be screened for the first time as part of our local documentary film festival, the 5th Geislinger DokuFilmTage! So you two better get cracking ... ;-D
